Governor of Lagos state Ambode donates N150m to IDPs in Adamawa, Borno, Yobe

LAGOS State Govern­ment has donated N50 million each to Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to assist the North eastern states cater for thousands of In­ternally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode presented cheques to the benefitting state gov­ernments at briefing room of the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after the Council of State meeting yesterday.
He said the devastating activities of Boko Haram was a big challenge facing the nation today and noted that, although insurgency was basically limited to the North-East of the country, “there is no doubt that the effect is felt everywhere across the federation.”
Ambode recalled that at the just-concluded 21st National Economic Sum­mit in Abuja, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Da­vid Lawal presented what he called a graphic and heart-rending report of the extent of damage and so­cial trauma brought about by insurgency in the re­gion.
“We commend our president for the renewed commitment of the Fed­eral Government to bring­ing insurgency to a logi­cal conclusion by the year end.”
Meanwhile, IDPs from Borno State currently tak­ing refuge in some camps in Abuja will soon be relocated, National Emergency Man­agement Agency (NEMA) and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disclosed recently.
NEMA and FEMA, at a joint press conference in Maiduguri, said 500 IDPs from Gwoza, who are at Apo Mechanic Village camp have indicated interest to re­turn home following a quit notice served them by the owner of the property cur­rently being used as IDPs camp at the FCT.
