President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, FCA, as the acting Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
The appointment took effect from Wednesday October 21, 2015.
The appointment was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Press in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Bolaji Adebiyi.
Oyo-Ita, until her appointment, was the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
She hails from Odukpani Local Government, Cross River State.
The appointment is “a testimony of Mr. President’s implicit confidence and trust in her ability to discharge the responsibilities of the office of Head of the Civil Service of the Federation,” the statement said.
The president had on Tuesday removed Danladi Kifasi as the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Kifasi’s removal, investigation gathered, might not be unconnected with the balancing of federal character in appointments, as the new SGF is from the North the same zone with Kifasi.
Meanwhile, the president has approved the pre-retirement leave for Kifasi with effect from October 20.
A statement signed by the Director Communications , Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Haruna R. Imrana, said the letter conveying the president’s approval signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal, also stated the president’s “appreciation for the meritorious service to the nation during his tenure as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.”
The president wishes Kifasi God’s guidance and best of luck in his future endeavours.
