•  CDS says bad weather hampering fight against Boko Haram

Military chiefs were on Monday at the State House in Abuja to brief President Muhmmadu Buhari on the execution of the mandate he gave them to flush out Boko Haram.

The military hierarchy, it was‎ gathered came to brief the president on the security situation in the troubled, insurgent ravaged, north eastern part of the country.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Abayomi Olonisakin, who spoke with journalists after the briefing said that the current weather condition and other logistics challenges were hampering the military operations against the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-east.

On why they came to see the president, Olonisakin said: "it is a normal consultation to intimate the president of the issues on ground, We briefed him on the security situation on ground after a 60-day review and we had to brief him on the challenges we have and ensure that the mandate we have is properly delivered."

Asked about challenges facing the military in its campaign against the insurgents, Olonisakin said "Of course, the challenges we are looking at are the issues of probably the weather as it were and some other logistics that we feel we should have so that the mandate can be quickly delivered."

The CDS however said that the military would carry out the mandate of flushing the insurgents out of the region by the December time line given by the President.
